CONNECTING WITH SAMIRA LOPEZ: A STANDOUT AT UTSA
Samira Lopez is a Senior at UTSA. She is majoring in Mexican American Studies with a concentration in
Cultural and the Service Officer and as Academic Chair.
Samira was also a Resident Assistant for two years, and a Senior Resident Assistant for one
year. In addition, Samira
has also been an Orientation Leader, a Student Coordinator and
currently a Student Assistant in Orientation and Family
Programs.
Upon graduation Samira
plans to be involved with City Year in Los Angeles and then apply for
graduate school to obtain a Master’s degree in either
Student Affairs Administration or Cultural Studies. Samira is first generation
Mexican American and she and her siblings are the first in
their family to attend college. Samira has a deep devotion,
consideration and compassion for the Mexican American community.
She wants Latina and Latino students to know their history
and be aware of current issues involving and impacting
the Mexican American and Chicano/a community. In her little bit of spare time, she enjoys hanging out with her Kappa Delta Chi sisters and her family. Samira also loves to explore San Antonio and other cities. She also loves to hang out with her boyfriend Raul. Samira would also like to give a “shout out:” “I would like to thank Maritza Villegas for always helping me here at UTSA… And we had FUN in Spain.”
