KDChi Alumnae Launch Lifelong Learning Series

KDCHI LAUNCHES LIFELONG LEARNING SERIES New initiative aims to provide personal, professional development opportunities to alumnae by alumnae

For Immediate Release:

LUBBOCK, TX - Kappa Delta Chi's National Alumnae Association, in partnership with the Division of Leadership Development, launched a Lifelong Learning Webinar Series for alumnae.

Vanessa Estrada, Chi Alumna

On Wednesday, November 14 Vanessa Estrada, a Chi Alumna, kicked off the series with a session titled "Healthy Living". Estrada, a licensed nutritionist, gave alumnae in attendance information on healthy eating and provided practical information to apply the information in their personal lives.

The idea for the series formed in response to alumnae feedback at the 2012 National Conference and evolved into the NAA's latest development within only five months. "It went from an idea to an imperative very quickly, and I am thrilled that it is coming to fruition," said Estee Hernández, Vice President of Alumnae Affairs.

Each session will address topics that are pertinent to alumnae no matter where she may be in her own life. Hernández stated, "We are considering where the need is -what information would most benefit our alumnae sisters. The goal is to feature a diverse range of topics benefitting the professional woman, the educated woman, and the family woman."

Estee Hernández, Alpha Epsilon Alumna

In recent years, the NAA has aspired to develop active membership for KDChi Alumnae by creating more outlets for involvement and greater incentives. The Lifelong Learning Series is just one of the many ways in which alumnae have directly influenced the greater organization. Today, the NAA has become a great program with extraordinary opportunities for alumnae. "We have more Alumnae Chapters - and stronger Chapters - than ever before, more open lines of communication between our alumnae and our National Leadership, and more ways to stay connected with our sisterhood post-graduation," said Hernández.

The next webinar will be "Tax Preparation Tips" led by Tiffany Hopwood, Epsilon Alumna and Certified Public Accountant on January 24, 2013 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. CST. Hopwood will discuss updates for filing taxes for 2012 and she share general tax advice to ensure that attendants are effective, correct, and compliant when filing taxes.
