Reno, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) Kathy Howard is a teacher with the Washoe County School District and she's celebrating being cancer free since 2005. Howard decided what a better way to celebrate and spread breast cancer awareness then to dance."When you're going through chemo, you can’t move at all so being able to come out here today and keep up with these women at this tremendous, incredible pace and keep moving for an hour plus is an incredible feet," Howard says.

She’s talking about zumba. The zumba Party in Pink event was held at the Grand Sierra Resort Sunday afternoon to help spread breast cancer awareness."It all has a positive effect on your body, your mind and your soul and so people who come to zumba classes it's just infectious," zumba instructor and event organizer Veronica Lebednik says.300 men and women of all ages showed up in support.

All proceeds go to the Susan G. Koman foundation.

Lebednik tells News 4 the event raised about $2,500.Howard zumbas year round and believes it's a great work out for just about anybody.“The feeling is intense you want to keep going, because of the energy around you and everybody's laughing you're having a good time," Howard says. For Howard, having so many people come out in support really hits home.

“It's tear jerking. It really, really brings out the emotional part of you. It's difficult not to come to this and not shed a tear or two," Howard says. But zumba is a form of therapy. "There's a lot of energy out there but that's what you're going to need if you're going to be a breast cancer survivor," Howard says.
