KDChi's UNT Colony Gains Chapter Status

KDChi's UNT Colony Gains Chapter Status

Kappa Delta Chi Sorority Is proud to announce that the KDChi Colony at the University of North Texas was officially inducted as the Alpha Upsilon Chapter to Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. on August 21, 2011.

These ladies have worked very hard to gain this accomplishment. So far in their short time of being part of the sisterhood they've won numerous awards including the MGC Involvement Cup Award, MGC Spirit Award, Chapter Progress Award, Advisor of the Year Award, Greek Woman of the Year Award, Region of the Year, and three sisters won the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

The Involvement Cup Award was given to Kappa Delta Chi during the Greek Awards at UNT; this award is given to a chapter showing exceptional involvement in the local and UNT communities. The MGC Spirit Award is granted to the organization who most upholds the values of the Multicultural Greek Council. Another award
received was the Chapter Progress Award; this is given to the chapter who exhibited the most academic, personal, and community growth.

In additon to the group awards they received, they also had a number of individuals excel; the Advisor of the Year Award was given to Dena Guzman for contributing her time and energy to the sorority. The Greek Woman of the Year Award was awarded to Cirzy Gonzalez, who at the time was the President of KDChi. It is the highest award that an individual can be recognized with for showing exceptional involvement, contributions and service to the sorority, UNT, and the community.

The North Texas region was also awarded with Region of the Year for their contributions not only to the undergraduates but to their community as well. Three of their sisters were recognized at the 2011 KDChi National Conference with the President’s Volunteer Service award; Maureen Huaringa, Sandra Jaime, and Yvette Andablo; for completing above and beyond the required service hours for the 2010-2011 year.

The ladies of Kappa Delta Chi, Alpha Upsilon worked extremely hard to gain chapter status and in the process were standouts on their campus as well as their surrounding communities. The chapter will continue to work hard to accomplish more goals and build a stronger sisterhood. This semester they hope to surpass the accomplishments of the past and continue to see the chapter grow.
