Kappa Delta Chi Sorority Inc.Unveils Graduate/Professional Membership Program

Kappa Delta Chi Sorority Inc.Unveils Graduate/Professional Membership Program

For Immediate Release:

July 18, 2011 (Lubbock, TX) Kappa Delta Chi Sorority Inc. is proud to unveil the newly created Graduate/Professional Intake Program rolling out officially August 1st. Over the years KDChi has increasingly received interests from women across the country who may not have attended the Universities our sisterhood has chartered at, but they feel a tie to the values our sisterhood offers. This program was designed for interested women who perhaps did not have the opportunity to obtain membership in our organization during their collegiate years. Estee Hernández, VP of Alumnae Affairs, and Mary González, National President, have worked very hard to ensure that the professional intake process would be similar to the collegiate process but at the same time understanding that different factors come to play when a woman is in a different stage of her life such as motherhood, career, graduate school, and so forth. A candidate for membership in the program is a professional woman who is a leader in her community, lives a life of service to the Latina/o population, and has expressed a commitment to lifelong learning. An interested woman must also have received a degree from a four-year accredited institution of higher education. Once the Graduate New Member completes the process, she will have full rights and privileges in Kappa Delta Chi, and will receive a year's membership in the National Alumnae Association.

At this past National Conference in San Antonio, Texas, 16 Alumnae sisters were trained to serve as this year's Graduate Member Educators. These sisters will be at the forefront of this new initiative. One of the trained sisters is Vanessa Treviño, an Alumna of the Alpha Chapter who sees this as a phenomenal way to stregthen KDChi's already strong network base, "The training was informative, Treviño said. I feel more connected to the sorority and I feel prepared and empowered to educate the next generation of sisters." VP Hernandez is eager to get the program off the ground. "This will provide Kappa Delta Chi with a new assembly of leaders and will increase the strength and magnitude of our professional network, Hernandez shared. The Graduate/Professional Intake process could not have come at a more exciting time for our sisterhood, as we are on the cusp of change and development."

Several informational webinars have been hosted in the last two weeks to inform our membership about the initiative and how to get involved. One more webinar will take place on Tuesday, July 19 at 7:00 p.m. CST. To request attendance at this webinar and/or to inquire about the Graduate/Professional Intake, please contact Estee Hernández, Vice President of Alumni Affairs at [email protected].
