THE NATIONAL FOUNDATION
The purpose of the Kappa Delta Chi National Foundation is to develop and implement programs that exclusively support philanthropic purposes and to establish educational scholarships and grants.

The Foundation was created by the Kappa Delta Chi Sorority’s National Alumni Association. In 2000 Founder Irene Montoya and the NAA Board met with Naomi Vasquez Chapa, then Executive Director of the sorority and the National Board to request a joint venture in supporting the Foundation. It was recognized that the sorority would enhance their ability to raise funds under a charitable 501(c)(3) organization independent from the Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. National Council. Therefore, the Foundation could provide funds beyond the normal operating budget to expand and improve educational programs and activities impacting the community more effectively.

Undergraduate chapters of Kappa Delta Chi hold an annual Bowl-A-Thon that funds the majority of the projects that the Foundation sponsors. The Foundation receives, manages and distributes scholarship funds, annual gifts, and other donations for the purpose of funding educational and leadership development programs for the communities we support and the American Cancer Society, the national philanthropy
of Kappa Delta Chi.

In 2004, Kappa Delta Chi awarded $3,000 in scholarships to college bound high school students and donated $5,000 to the American Cancer Society. Recently, The Foundation has added the Irene Montoya Scholarships to include members pursuing their undergraduate and graduate careers. Please visit our scholarship page for more information.

The Foundation has also integrated a community service program assistance fund for Kappa Delta Chi chapters who sponsor educational and/or leadership programming. Contact executivedirector@kdxfoundation.org for an application and/or additional information. Chapters are encouraged to apply for financial assistance for the many great programs they sponsor. Applications will soon be available online!
